The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has conferred a meritorious award’ on Mr Ezra Musa of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Kaduna Zonal Office for his professional role in the coverage of its activities.
Imam Garki, North-West Zonal Coordinator of the agency, made this known on Tuesday at the 2024 Customer Service Week in Kaduna.
NAN reports that the event, with a theme: ”Above and Beyond”M was organised by NEMA as part of its customer service week activities.
Garki said the customer service week was an annual event that has been taking place since the 1980s globally, hence the agency was holding it not only to appreciate customers, but some key stakeholders.
Represented by Halima Sulaiman, Head of Information Unit of the agency, he said the journalists honoured was in appreciation of their efforts in reaching out to the public.
“We were prompted to award the journalists because they play crucial roles in disseminating information.
”They have given life to it by putting in their best, showing commitment and dedication to duty,” she said.
In his remarks, the awardee, Musa expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the recognition and award, saying that he was only doing what he can under his capacity to add value to humanity.
He said the award would serve as a motivation that would encourage him to do better in his reportage for the betterment of the society.
Another awardee, Mohammed Haruna, a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Kaduna correspondent, said the award was an opportunity to serve the public better.
He said that NEMA was the first agency that gives intervention to those affected by crises, hence it plays a critical role in society.
Haruna added that the customer service week was an opportunity to get feedback from the community.
Suraj Ahmed, acting Branch Secretary, Red Cross, Kaduna State, said the customer service week was a bold step in getting feedback from the community.
“It is an avenue where NEMA and the stakeholders assess the impact of their services in the community,” he said.
NAN reports that the two other journalists honoured were: Jacob Dickson, New Nigerian Editor and Mohammed Haruna of NTA Kaduna as well as Ibrahim Abdulhamid, Sarkin Ungwan Sarki.(NAN)
