Gov Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has sworn in eight new commissioners and redeployed four others in a major reshuffle.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday in Bauchi, Mohammed congratulated the newly appointed commissioners on their appointments.

He said that their track record of service and fairness in representation in line with state character were taken into considerations in selecting them for their positions.

“It is my hope that they would justify the confidence reposed in them, and see their appointment as a challenge and an opportunity to prove their worth in the service of the state,” he said.

Mohammed enjoined the commissioners to acquaint themselves with the policy thrust of the government, to be properly guided for efficient and effective discharge of their duties.

He said the assignment given to them was a trust, adding that they owed it a duty to God Almighty and obligation to fellow human beings.

“One day you will account for your stewardship, if not in this world surely in the hereafter and that is why you should not be tempted to abuse the trust bestowed on you,” he said.

The new commissioners include Usman Shehu, Ministry of Information and Communication, Dr Iliyasu Gital, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Bala Lukshi, Ministry of Livestock Development, Isa Tilde, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Prof. Titus Ketkukah, Ministry of Works and Transport.

Others are Adamu Gabarin, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abdullahi Mohammed, Ministry of Lands and Survey and Dr Lawal Mohammed, Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, the governor redeployed four commissioners to new ministries to enhance good governance and service delivery.

They are: Amina Katagum, redeployed from the Ministry of Lands and Survey to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; Ibrahim Galadima, from the Ministry of Works and Transport to Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

While Mohammed Gamawa transferred from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment and Binni Abdulkadir, from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment to the Ministry for Religious Affairs and Societal Re-orientation. (NAN)
