The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Borno State over the recent devastating flood disaster.
The NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.- Gen. Buba Marwa, stated this in a stament by the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Marwa, a former Military Governor of the old Borno State, empathised with Gov. Babagana Zulum and sympathised with the Shehu of Borno, His Highness Abubakar, Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanem, victims, and residents over the natural disaster.
He assured them that they are not alone during this difficult time and offered prayers for the flood to recede quickly.
Marwa also expressed sincere respect for officials of federal and state emergency agencies, NGOs, and well-spirited individuals providing support, relief, and rescue efforts in the affected communities.
The flood, caused by the overflow of Alau Dam following torrential rainfall, submerged 70 per cent of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
It also ravaged other major areas, including the palace of the Shehu of Borno, state secretariat, post office, cemetery, and university teaching hospital, among others. (NAN)
