A 40-year-old man, Salisu Bello, on Monday, appeared before a Sharia Court in Kano over alleged breach of trust and cheating.
Bello, who resides at Danladi Nasidi Quarters, in Kumbotso Local Government Area in Kano State, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar told the court that the complainant, Muhammed Faruk, who also resides at Danladi Nasidi Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area, reported the matter at Hotoro Police Station, Kano, on Jan. 24.
Abubakar said that Faruk gave the defendant 10 bags of sugar valued N800,000 to sell for him.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant later asked Bello for his money, but the defendant responded that he had only sold four bags out of the 10 bags of sugar.
He further told the court that when the complainant again asked for the balance of proceeds from the remaining six bags of sugar, the defendant failed to remit it.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 202 and 206 of the Penal Code.
