Premier League champions Liverpool FC are said to be preparing a bold move to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, reportedly offering Darwin Núñez and Federico Chiesa as part of an exchange deal.
According to reports from Caught Offside, the Reds are eager to boost their attacking line-up ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with new manager Arne Slot keen to ease the goal-scoring burden on star forward Mohamed Salah.
Osimhen, who impressed last season with a remarkable tally of 37 goals during a loan spell at Galatasaray, has emerged as a top target. The Nigerian international’s clinical finishing and physical presence have made him one of Europe’s most coveted forwards.
Liverpool are believed to be looking to capitalise on reported interest in Núñez from both Napoli and AC Milan, using it as leverage in their attempt to secure Osimhen’s signature. Núñez, who arrived from Benfica in 2022, has struggled to meet expectations at Anfield, scoring just seven goals in all competitions last season.
Also included in the proposed deal is Federico Chiesa, who has endured a challenging season due to injury setbacks since arriving from Juventus, managing only one Premier League start.
The proposed transfer is part of Liverpool’s broader summer rebuild following their 20th league title. The club has already secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong and is pursuing further reinforcements, including Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
