Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Executive Secretary of Nigeria Conference of Police Commissioners (NCPC), on Sunday said because Jesus resurrected, Nigeria would see better days so the citizens should keep hope alive.
Adegbite made this known in his Easter message while felicitating Christian faithful in Nigeria and the world for the successful completion of the Lenten season.
He emphasised the importance of holding onto hope, even in the face of adversity, suggesting that Nigeria had the potential to overcome its challenges and emerge stronger, just as Jesus rose from the dead.
“The end of the Lenten season culminates in the celebration of Easter following the triumphant resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“Without the resurrection, there is no Christianity. So Easter is a message of resurrection and a message of renewed hope.
“I pray for Nigeria and I know Nigeria will be better after the resurrection because some of us have waited upon God,’’ he said.
Adegbite cited Isaiah 40 vs 31 which said: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
The NCPC secretary, enjoined Christians to pray for a better Nigeria after the resurrection.
He urged Nigerians to be their brothers’ keepers, stating that there was nothing to gain from killing others.
He also prayed and called for prayers for President Bola Tinubu, and all those who mean well for Nigeria.
“We do not have any other place to go. We do not have any other nation. There is no country that can accept us, not in Africa, not in the world.
“That is why we must contribute our quota to ensure that we have a better environment for everybody to live in.
“Easter is a call to sacrificial living, without Easter, there is no message, and so I urge you to live in peace different people, especially among those of other faiths,” he said
Adegbite urged the Christian faithful to celebrate with moderation and extend hands of fellowship to people around them urging them to be good ambassadors of Christ.
“It shall be well with the righteous. It shall be well with our president. He is doing his best, and we need to cooperate with him.
“God will be with Nigeria, God will be with Nigerians, and God will be with all of us. Shalom. Happy Easter,” he said (NAN)
