Alhaji Muhammad Usman, Speaker, Kebbi House of Assembly, has lauded Gov. Nasir Idris for the award of N64 billion contract for the construction of Koko-Zuru-Mahuta-Dabai road in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), recalls that the Kebbi Government and the three contracting firms, GNIC, ZBCC and Habib Engineering Company, on Thursday, signed the contract for the reconstruction project.
NAN reports that each of the contractors was allotted specified kilometres to cover as provided therein on the contract agreement.
Considering its economic importance to Kebbi and Nigeria, the road, a federal government’s own, had been taken over by Kebbi government due to constant construction delays by the previous contractor.
Addressing newsmen on the new development in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, Usman, thanked Gov. Idris for his timely and gracious decision to award the construction of the road.
“This road is a vital artery that connects Zuru Emirate and its surrounding communities, fostering economic activities, improving access to essential services, and enhancing the overall quality of live of our people.
“By prioritising this project, the governor has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to infrastructural development and the well-being of the people of Kebbi.
“The people of Zuru emirate are particularly touched by his visionary leadership as well as his consistent efforts to bridge development gaps across the state.
“The construction of this road will undoubtedly address decades-long challenges in transportation, trade, and communication, which hitherto retarded the development of the area,” he said.
This, according to him, will also boost agricultural productivity alongside other economic opportunities in the state.
The speaker assured the governor of the assembly’s full cooperation and support throughout the implementation of the project.
“Further more, we pledge to ensure that this development is safeguarded and use responsibly to benefit all members of our community,” he assured. (NAN)
