The Kebbi House of Assembly, has passed a supplementary budget of N53.5 billion bringing the 2024 cumulative budget figure to N303.7 billion.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Nasir Idris had on Dec. 13, 2023 signed N250.1 billion 2024 appropriation bill into law.
The passing of the supplementary budget followed the consideration of the report from the joint Committee on Finance and Appropriation and that of Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning and Due Process on the Supplementary Appropriation Bill presented during the assembly’s plenary session on Tuesday.
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad (Ngaski-APC) reminded the members that the house received a proposed 2024 supplementary appropriation bill from Gov. Idris, and committed same to the committee.
”After careful observation and scrutiny of the 2024 supplementary estimates of both revenue capital and recurrent expenditure, the committee came up with projected supplementary capital expenditure figures of N45.1 billion and recurrent expenditure of N8.4 billion.
”This has made the total supplementary appropriation to N53.5 billion.
”I, therefore, crave your indulgence to adopt the recommendation of the committee on the supplementary appropriation bill of N53.5 billion as presented for onward submission to Gov. Idris for assent,” he explained.
Muhammad thanked all the stakeholders who participated in the public hearing and provided both written and oral inputs to contribute to the success of the report.
Subsequently, Muhammad, presented the motion of the bill for third reading which was seconded by Alhaji Umar Na’amore, (Argungu-APC).
The Speaker of the house, Muhammad Usman (APC-Zuru), who presided over the plenary session, put the motion to a voice vote, and the lawmakers unanimously adopted the passage of the bill into law.
NAN reports that following the approval of the supplementary appropriation bill, the cumulative budget, 2024, for the state stood at N303.7 billion. (NAN)
