Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has completed arrangements to award outstanding performing civil servants, teachers and retirees.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this is part of the celebrations to mark the 37th anniversary of the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu-Zango, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Katsina, as part of activities for the anniversary billed for September 23.
“As we mark this significant milestone, we remember the visionary leadership of the former Nigeria’s leader, retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, who created the state on Sept. 23, 1987.
“We must also pay tribute to our founding fathers, military and civilian Governors, who have worked tirelessly to build our state into what it is today.
“In the next two days precisely on Sept. 23, we will gather to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to a brighter future.
“To achieve this vision, Gov. Dikko Radda has inaugurated a high-level committee to organise and oversee the celebration,” the commissioner said.
According to him, the committee, chaired by the Secretary to Government of the State, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, comprises representatives from various ministries and other stakeholders.
Salisu-Zango explained that some of the activities for the anniversary would include an award dinner, and a public sermon to be delivered by the renowned Islamic cleric, Prof. Isah Pantami, on the theme ‘RIKON AMANA’.
He said, “The topic is to remind us of our obligations as leaders and as citizens.
“And also, serving and retired civil servants with records of outstanding performance have been carefully selected for the awards.
“Over the years, Katsina State has made significant strides in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agrículture.
“Our state has become a beacon of hope and opportunity for its citizens and a shining example of progress in the region.
“As we celebrate this anniversary, as citizens we recommit ourselves to the values of unity, resilience, and determination that have defined our state’s history.”
Salisu-Zango said that the administration of Radda has pledged to continue working towards a brighter future for all the citizens, where everyone has access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
According to him, the administration has recorded a lot of successes in all sectors, especially in the area of security, which has become a canker worm in the progress of the state. (NAN)
