The Kano State Internal Revenue Services (KIRS), has urged companies operating in the state to settle outstanding withholding tax with immediate effect.
Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, Director, Debt Management and Enforcement (KIRS), said this during an enforcement exercise to some companies, on Monday in Kano.
He said that Gov. Abba Yusuf administration was committed to serve the people through execution of viable projects, hence the need for compliance by taxpayers in the state.
“It is important for taxpayers to be compliant as at when due in order to avoid legal action against them.
“Once we receive a court order to seal any of the companies, they must pay before it can be reopen,” he said.
Abdullahi commended the Northern Rice and Oil Mills Limited for ensuring prompt payment of their tax to the government. (NAN)
