In a show of commitment to higher education and institutional development, the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has presented official vehicles to top officials of the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, as part of efforts to facilitate the institution’s smooth takeoff in September.
During a stakeholders’ meeting held with the university’s board members, including Pro-Chancellor Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Governor Sani handed over a car each to the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor, along with a 30-seater bus for use by students and staff.
The meeting, aimed at reviewing progress on the university’s takeoff plans, also focused on enhancing collaboration between the state government and the institution’s leadership.
“We are committed to supporting this university not just with vehicles, but with vital infrastructure like access roads, and through our continued partnership with security agencies to ensure a safe learning environment,” Governor Sani said.
“This university stands as a beacon of hope and a catalyst for socio-economic transformation in our region,” he added.
He also emphasised that the Kaduna State Government is actively engaging federal stakeholders and development partners to accelerate the institution’s operational readiness.
Speaking at the event, both Bishop Kukah and the Vice Chancellor commended the state government for its unwavering support.
They described the backing from the state as “proactive and strategic,” noting that it has laid a strong foundation for the university’s successful launch.
The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, was established to develop technical expertise, promote innovation, and drive industrial growth through applied research and hands-on education.
It is expected to welcome its pioneer students later this year.
Governor Sani reaffirmed that his administration will continue to work closely with the institution to ensure it achieves its mission of empowering future generations with practical knowledge and transformative skills.
