The Kaduna State Fire Service said it recorded 50 fire outbreaks in February.
The Director of the state fire service, Mr Paul Aboi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kaduna.
According to Aboi, the incidents occurred in Kafanchan, Zaria, and Kaduna metropolitan areas.
He stated that the service was able to save property worth approximately N3.9 billion from destruction, while property valued at N570 million was lost during the period under review.
“The service responded to all 50 rescue calls and three false alarms from residents of the state; fortunately, there were no reported casualties or injuries from the incidents,” he said.
Aboi attributed the fire outbreaks to bush burning, carelessness, and the improper use of electrical appliances.
He urged residents to adopt safer fire-handling practices to prevent future losses.(NAN)
