Gov Umar Namadi of Jigawa has approved the appointment of new management for the Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State (SSG), Malam Bala Ibrahim, in Dutse on Tuesday.
Ibrahim said the gesture was part of the government’s commitment to ensure continued success and growth of the club.
He listed Gambo Umar as Chairman; Idris Zangi, Vice Chairman; Abdulmajid Auwal, Team Manager; Baba Garba, Assistant Team Manager; Hauwa Garba, Welfare Officer and Ado Mato, Coach.
Others are; Sabo Abdullahi as representative of Football Association; Ibrahim Isyaku, Public Relations Officer (PRO); Ali Ibrahim, Secretary; while Dodo Idaho, Jafaru Shu’aibu and Abdulkadir Kalla will serve as members.
The SSG added that as part of efforts to improve the home-based players, the governor has also approved the establishment and appointment of the Management team for the Junior Golden Stars (Danmodi Strikers).
According to him, the junior club will serve as feeder team for Jigawa Golden Stars’ main team with purely indigenes of the state.
Ibrahim also listed those appointed as pioneer management team of the newly established junior team as Ibrahim Kwiachiri, Chairman; Babangida Shalla, Team Manager; Hassan Magaji, Welfare Officer; Nura Arma, Coach; Muhammad Ado, Assistant Coach; Suleiman Isyaku, PRO; Ibrahim Jibrin, Secretary; while Sabo Saleh will serve as member.
Ibrahim explained that the new management crews were selected on merit.
While congratulating the appointees, the SSG expressed the hoped that they would bring their wealth of experience in managing and overseeing the affairs of the clubs.
“The rationale behind the formation of the new management crews is to implement initiatives that will enhance the Golden Star’s performance, attract private sponsorships and increase community involvement in sports development state-wide as well as to provide stability, continuity, crucial for long term success and resilience in line with Gov. Umar Namadi’s vision.
“The management crews are also expected to collaborate closely with the State Ministry of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture and other stakeholders in the sports industry to promote the clubs,” the SSG said.
He disclosed that the governor also approved the appointment of Muhammad Barde-Zakar as his Technical Assistant on Sports Development, adding that all the appointments take immediate effect. (NAN)
