Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has charged traditional leaders in Amuwo Odofin council area of the state to preserve lands for infrastructure development.

He made the appeal on Tuesday at the inauguration of four networks of roads inthe council area.

The four reconstructed roads will provide a link to the Lagos Blue Line Rail on the Lagos Badagry Expressway and the water component of the state government’s multi-modal transport initiative, with jetties.

Sanwo-Olu also charged the residents to take ownership of the roads.

The roads are Irede, Old Ojo (Phase One), Navy Town and Mumuni Adio (Buba Marwa).

“These are four strategic roads that have changed the face of Oriade, Amuwo and Ojo.

“The first one is the Irede Road, which has been completed up to Irede Jetty,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu warned the residents against dumping of refuse on highways, saying that his administration would punish offenders.

The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to constructing Phase Two of the Old Ojo Road – from Maza Maza Bua Stop to Mile 2.

He also said that the state government was determined to execute other projects in the council area.

Mr Olufemi Daramola, the Special Adviser to the governor on infrastructure, said, “These facilities have boosted transportation, accessibility, safety and economic activities in the area, and also reduced travel time.” (NAN)
