An aspirant for the position of Vice President (VP) for North-east zone in the upcoming National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) election, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim, has pledged to promote youth-led rural development initiatives if elected.
Abdullahi, a former president of the Students Union Government (SUG) of Bauchi State University Gadau (BASUG) made the pledge in a statement issued to our correspondent on Tuesday on the declaration of his aspiration.
According to him, youth-led rural development initiatives are projects or programmes designed, implemented, and led by young people to address the specific needs and challenges of rural communities.
He noted that these initiatives aim to promote sustainable development, improve livelihoods, and enhance the well-being of rural populations.
“I believe the time has come for a formidable and focused NYCN in our region, one that will raise awareness, drive empowerment, and promote youth-led rural development initiatives with measurable impact.
“In the best interest of the North East, I humbly present myself for this service not for recognition, but because I believe that together, we can redefine leadership and rewrite the narrative for young people across our region.
“I have remained a vocal voice against injustice, consistently standing with young people, championing liberation from oppression, and advocating for inclusivity, empowerment, and progress”, he stated.
