Mr Bashar Hussaini, has assumed duty as the 16th Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Command in Akwa Ibom.
Mr Friday Ekerete, the Command Public Relations Officer, made the disclosure in a statement in Uyo on Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hussaini is replacing, Eluyemi Eluwade, who has been redeployed to the corps’ national headquarters, Abuja.
Ekerete said that the new commandant had served in different NSCDC commands across the country before being posted to Akwa Ibom.
“Hussaini holds a Masters Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
“His service to the nation began in 1990 as a member of the Cadet Officer Course 1 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
“He later transfered his services to the NSCDC in 2009. He is highly experienced and disciplined.
“He is bringing an extensive experience in undercover operations, counter terrorism, intelligence and investigations,” he said.
According to the NSCDC spokesman, Hussaini has reiterated his commitment towards tackling economic sabotage and public assets vandalism in the state.
Ekerete said that the new commandant had promised to work in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom Government and other security agencies to protect public infrastructure.(NAN)
