Timothy Abimbola a basketball Coach with Hoops N’ Read Basketball Club of Lagos on Wednesday said that no fewer than 30 players will feature its two- day recruitment screening exercise in Lagos.
Abimbola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the screening exercise would see 15-18 new players recruited into the main stream activities of the club.
He said that the event would hold from Jan. 17 to Jan. 18 ,at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
“We are calling on all players for a two-day open trial for the new season at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, from 3 p.m. daily.
“We expect these players to bring their A game to the screening process and get a life time opportunity to showcase their qualities and hopefully be selected at the end,”Abimbola said.
Abimbola added that the screening exercise would also have Olumide Oyedeji, Ex-international and Chief Executive Officer of Hoops and Read Basketball Club,in attendance.
He said Oyedeji would help to select players during the screening process ,to join the team.
NAN reports that Hoops and Read are working their socks off to prepare themselves ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Basketball Premier League which comes later 2025.
The team participated in the 2023/2024 edition with a dominant performance by reaching the National Final 8 but fell to the eventual champions, Rivers Hoopers of Port Harcourt. (NAN)
