The Hadejia Emirate Council in Jigawa has disbursed N68 million Zakkat (Alms), to the needy and deserving families in Baturiya and Garun Gabas Districts.

This is contained in a statement on Tuesday by Musa Muhammad, spokesman of the Kirikasamma and Malam Madori Local Government Areas of the state.

The statement quoted Abdulfatah Abdulwahab, Chairman, Zakkat Collection/Distribution Committee, as saying that it had distributed animals and food items to the beneficiaries.

He said that 1,000 bags of rice; 12.5 bags of millet, 28 bags of sorghum, four bags of maize and eight livestock, worth N57.6 million were distributed to the beneficiaries in Baturiya.

Abdulwahab said the committee distributed grains worth N11.7 million at Garin Gabas including 28 bags of millet, 181 bags of sorghum, five bags of rice, three bags of beans, four sheep and a cow.

The Chairman, therefore, urged wealthy individuals to give out Zakkat to support the needy. (NAN)
