Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has congratulated two teenagers from the state, Nafisa Abdullahi and Ruqayya Fema, for emerging as overall best in English Language and debate at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London.
The duo, aged 17 and 15 respectively, are students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo, and represented Nigeria in the international competition, triumphing over 20,000 participants from 69 countries.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni described their achievement as a great honour to both Yobe State and Nigeria at large.
“These are remarkable feats that make us immensely proud and further justify the government’s consistent investment in education,” the governor said.
Governor Buni announced that a grand reception would be organized in honour of the two students at a later date, as a mark of recognition and encouragement.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to subsidizing education to ensure every child in the state has access to quality schooling, and called on parents to support the government’s efforts in that regard.
The governor revealed that both Nafisa and Ruqayya are beneficiaries of his scholarship programme, which fully covers tuition for 890 students currently enrolled at the college.
He further noted that over 40,000 students are beneficiaries of the state government’s scholarship scheme, studying various disciplines at universities and tertiary institutions within and outside Nigeria.
“A few months ago, we celebrated the graduation of 167 scholarship recipients in medical sciences, computer science, and engineering from universities in India,” Buni added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo, was built and funded by the Yobe State Government, but is managed by Turkish education partners.
