Gov Bago Reassures Corps Members Of Security, Welfare

Gov Umaru Bago of Niger has reassured corps members of adequate security and welfare during their one year mandatory national service.

He gave the assurance during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch B ‘Stream 2’ orientation course in Paiko Local Government Area of the state.

Bago, represented by Alhaji Yahaya Gulbin-Boka, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, said the state place high premium o the security and welfare of corps members.

“(We also prioritise) other areas that enable you settle down and offer diligent service to the state, also recognition of the importance of your roles as youths and corps members.

“We are desirous of working with you in the delivery of good governance and services to the people of the state,” he said

Bago urged corps members with interest in agricultural value chain to join the Niger foods investment to ensure food sufficiency for the state and the country at large.

He noted that the Green Economy Programme was an attestation of the present government’s effort in taking advantage of endowments in the agricultural value chain in the state.

In her welcome address, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, NYSC Coordinator in Niger, urged the corps members to accept their posting in good fate with determination to give the best service to host communities.

She appealed to corps employers to accept corps members posted to them and provide them with decent accommodation, security and welfare for the period of their primary assignment.

Abdulwahab also appealed to the state government for construction of a new permanent orientation camp to provide befitting accommodation for corps members posted to the state. (NAN)
