The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Mohammad (rtd), says the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is playing a vital role in Nigeria’s development by making the country’s roads safer and saving lives daily.

The emir said this during a working visit by the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Malam Shehu Mohammed on Tuesday, to inaugurate Operation Sanity in Nasarawa state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that “Operation Sanity”, is a targeted patrol aimed at curbing dangerous driving behaviors and restoring discipline on major routes in Nasarawa State and beyond.

The traditional ruler described the Corps as a national asset and one of the most impactful institutions in the security and public safety sector.

He noted that the establishment of the FRSC in 1988 had proven to be a turning point in the country’s efforts to reduce road traffic accidents and improve transportation safety.

“The Corps’ contribution to saving lives and securing our roads cannot be overstated.

“Its work directly supports the economy by ensuring the safe movement of people and goods across the country,” the emir said.

The traditional ruler added that FRSC’s professional conduct, public enlightenment campaigns, and strategic patrol operations have helped in reducing the rate of crashes and instilling discipline among road users.

Speaking, the FRSC Corps Marshal thanked the emir and the traditional council for their sustained support, adding that such collaboration strengthens the corps’ grassroots engagement and effectiveness.

Mohammed emphasised that road safety was a key enabler of national progress, as efficient and safe transport systems boost productivity, trade, and social development.

“Our duty goes beyond enforcement. It is about saving lives and enhancing national growth through road safety. We urge all citizens to join us in this mission,” he maintained. (NAN)
