The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, has sympathised with the people of Maiduguri and other communities affected by flood, describing the damage as devastating.
This is contained in a statement by the foundation’s Director-General, Mr Abubakar Umar, on Tuesday in Kaduna.
According to him, the foundation commended the resilience and unity of the affected communities, calling it a source of hope amid the challenges being faced.
“In these trying times, your remarkable strength and unity shines as a beacon of hope for us all,”Umar stated.
The foundation urged individuals, organisations and the international community to extend compassion and support to the flood victims.
The statement emphasised the importance of responding to emergencies from government agencies, civil society organisations, and local communities.
“We call on the government to allocate resources and implement relief measures to address the immediate needs of those affected.
“Civil society organisations are also encouraged to leverage their networks to assist impacted communities,” Umar added.
The foundation further urged the communities to stand together in solidarity, offering help and comfort to those in distress.
“As we embark on the journey towards recovery, let us unite in solidarity, extending our prayers and assistance to rebuild lives and communities,”the foundation appealed.
It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the recovery efforts and rebuilding a brighter future for the affected regions. (NAN)
