The Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged the players of Kwara United Football Club to remain focused and determined ahead of the 2025 President’s Federation Cup final.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the final is scheduled for June 28 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, against Abakaliki FC.
Gambari, who stated this on Tuesday in Ilorin while receiving the team in his palace, assured the team of his support in their quest to bring the trophy to Kwara.
“I was once an official of Shooting Stars and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). I know what is at stake in a crucial match like this.
“Prepare well, remain focused, and stay united. We will continue to pray for your success,” he said.
He commended the team’s efforts so far and emphasised the importance of discipline, unity, and hard work.
The traditional ruler reminded them that their victory would bring immense pride to the entire Ilorin Emirate and the state at large.
Earlier, Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Malam Idris Musa, described the royal blessings from the Emir as a consistent source of inspiration for the team.
He said that if the team triumphs in Lagos, the palace would be the first place they would bring the trophy in appreciation.
The former Grand Khadi of the Kwara Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Idris Haroon, led a special prayer session for the team. (NAN)
