Dr Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged the management of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Channel 5, to increase reportage of security issues and flooding.

Mahmoud made the call when the management of the station, led by the General Manager, Mr Paul Atte, visited her in Abuja on Wednesday.

She stressed the need for residents, particularly those in hard-to-reach communities to be well informed about the impact of flooding and security challenges.

She said that the NTA has the potential to transmit messages of security and flood to all the nooks and crannies of the country through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

According to her, joint efforts will significantly improve the potential for greater outcomes in areas of security and flooding.

“Let me assure you that as we look towards the future, we are keen to further strengthen our relationship and explore new opportunities for collaboration, especially in the areas of security and flooding”.

The minister thanked NTA for the robust partnership with the FCT Administration in providing quality information in the media landscape.

She said: “I want to express our sincere appreciation for the enduring relationship we have enjoyed with the Nigerian Television Authority, the largest network in Africa.

“To state the obvious, NTA has continued to provide quality information in the media landscape, and we are truly grateful for your service to our residents at the grassroots.

“For us, our partnership has been a cornerstone of our mutual success, and we are grateful for the support and the collaboration we have experienced over the years, through your accurate reportage,” Mahmoud said.

Earlier, Atte noted that the station had in the past, enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the FCT Administration, and appealed for stronger collaboration.

The general manager assured that despite the current challenges facing the station, the NTA Channel 5 will continue to uphold its standard as a “unity station”. (NAN)
