Kenyatta University of Kenya on Monday defeated University of Ghana 2-0 at the ongoing 11th All Africa University Games (FASU) in second round of the football event.
Kenyatta who are the defending champions in football, scored their two goals in the second half through Price Omeda and Joshua Gichana.
With this victory, Kenyatta leads their group having recorded a draw in their opening game.
Coach Joseph Rama from of Kenyatta University told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that his team played well and deserved to win.
“We played well, it was a tough match and we had to work hard to get our goals in the second half of the game.
“We are going into the final group game with a lot of confidence, and we believe a victory is what we will get out of the match at the end,”Rama said.
Also speaking, Coach Ebenezer Adamoah of University of Ghana, said his team lacked the mental discipline to win the match and missed so many scoring chances.
“We played well in the first half and could not convert the scoring chances we had, so at the end we were made to pay dearly for those chances.
“We have to work harder if we are going to get anything from this competition, especially converting our goal scoring opportunities,” Adamoah said.
NAN reports that the football event is holding at the Lagos State University sports Complex, Ojo, Lagos.(NAN)
