Prof Lawrence Ezemonye has emerged as the new Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU).
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the committee, Prof. Andrew Haruna, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.
Haruna stated that Ezemonye emerged as Chairman following the committee’s annual meeting which held on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
“A significant outcome of this gathering was the emergence of Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye as Chairman of the CVCNU.
“The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Sagir Abbas, was elected as Alternate Chairman.
“The full composition of the CVCNU Executive Board is as follows: Prof. Tanko Ishaya, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, as Alternate Chairman for federal universities.
“Prof. Kabiru Adeyemo, Vice-Chancellor of Lead City University, as Alternate Chairman for private universities.
“Prof. lbiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University as Chairman, CVCNU State, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, Vice-Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University as Alternate, CVCNU State”.
He explained that Prof. Ezemonye assumed the position from Prof. Lilian Salami, who is completing her tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin on Dec. 1.
Haruna added that Prof. Ezemonye’s election makes him the fifth male Vice-Chancellor to serve as Chairman of the committee.
He wished the new Chairman and all Executive Board members success in their leadership roles.
Ezemonye, a Nigerian professor of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Forensics, has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, since 2018.
He will serve a two-year term as Chairman, during which he will preside over the Executive Board and lead meetings of the General Assembly of the committee. committee. (NAN)
