Mr Wemimo Akinsola, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Ondo State on Agriculture and Agricbusiness says executive orders will create more jobs and improve agricultural activities in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Dec.12, signed four executive orders.
The executives orders covered transparency in regulatory processes by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), agribusiness reforms; improved physical planning; and prohibition of land grabbing.
Akinsola, who said this while speaking with newsmen in his office on Wednesday in Akure, commended Aiyedatiwa for signing the four executive orders.
According to the SSA, the executive orders are important to our agricultural activities because it will benefit the state, especially youths, through job creation and accessibility of land for farmers.
He said that the executive orders would also provide an enabling environment for business growth, improve physical planning and protect owners of landed properties in the state.
Akinsola added that the new executive order would also encourage foreign investors on mechanised systems of farming, as well as agricultural value chains.
“The Aiyedatiwa-led administration is poised to reposition agriculture in the state.
“The government is going to acquire more land in the three senatorial districts in agreement with the family and the host community.
“Meanwhile, after the necessary agreement, the land will be allocated to investors and farmers.
“The issue of land grabbers and other forms of limitations to acquire land for development and agricultural purposes would be totally eliminated with the new executive orders,” he said.
Akinsola, therefore, explained that the executive orders would also help the government to promote agribusiness reforms.
According to the SSA, the orders will also provide all relevant stakeholders with a mutually beneficial resolution to agricultural land concerns and investment opportunities. (NAN)
