The European Union (EU) Ambassador Ms Samuela Isopi, says the bloc’s positive engagements in Nigeria ranges from transformative power of Nigeria’s digital, innovation, and agricultural sectors among others.

Isopi made this known at a send-forth ceremony organised for her by the bloc after she spent three years on official engagement in Nigeria.

She said that it had been a privilege to serve the Nigerian people and government, who had been at the centre of EU’s engagement.

According to her, we stand for the same values; we have a lot to give to each other by working together.

“I am personally delighted to have found in the Nigerian government a formidable counterpart, open to engage in all the key areas of our partnership, from peace and security,” she said.

She said that other areas of engagement included governance , human development, migration, energy, digital, and trade.

“I am proud of what we have done together in many areas that are vital to the betterment of the Nigerian society,” she said.

Mr Caleb Mutfwang, the Governor of Plateau State, said that a partnership between Nigeria and EU was something that needed to continue.

According to Muftwang, Europe needs Nigeria and Nigeria needs Europe in all facet of the economy.

“It is not surprising that EU is our biggest trading partner.

“With credit that shows the commitment of Europe towards the development of Nigeria, the best of Nigeria is yet to come.

“I believe so, and we do not have a choice than to unleash the potentials of Nigeria because the black race is looking up to Nigeria,” he said.

Also speaking, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, lauded Isopi’s professional approach to the Nigeria and EU partnership.

Bagudu said that the friendship developed would be sustained even after she leaves Nigeria.

Also present at the event were the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulieman-Ibrahim, and the former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen and others.(NAN)
