Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, has described the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari as a monumental loss to the nation.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Abubakar extended his sympathies to President Bola Tinubu, the government and people of Katsina State, as well as Buhari’s immediate family.
He hailed Buhari as a hero whose patriotism was unmatched in Nigeria’s history, adding that the late leader embodied piety, humility, and unwavering dedication to the country’s progress.
“Buhari was extremely humble, God-fearing and an elder statesman whose love for the nation, especially for the masses, was remarkable,” Abubakar said.
He further praised the former president as a true nationalist whose incorruptibility stood out, noting that his death had left a void too large to fill.
Describing Buhari as a committed technocrat and a detribalised Nigerian, the Etsu Nupe observed that the former president passed away at a time when his guidance was much needed to steer the country forward.
He concluded by praying that Almighty Allah grant Buhari eternal rest in Aljannat Firdaus and comfort his family and the nation during this period of grief.
