The Chairman, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, Dr Eric Odo has signed the 2025 budget of ₦5.4bn of the council into law.
Signing the budget tagged, “Budget of Aggressive Economic Recovery and Good Governance” in Ogbede on Monday, Odo said the budget would be implemented judiciously.
He disclosed that his administration had put a mechanism in place to ensure smooth and seamless implementation of the budget.
Odo reiterated that the primary goal was to ensure that people of the area enjoy the dividend of democracy, which his administration would pursue vigorously through infrastructural development and improving people’s welfare.
While pledging to utilise available resources effectively, he maintained that he would continue building on the progress his administration had recorded in the last two months.
“₦2.71bn of the total budget would go into recurrent expenditures while the remaining ₦2.76bn would be used to finance capital expenditures.
“This budget is a product of careful planning and consultations with stakeholders across all sectors.
“The strategies for successful implementation of the 2025 budget include ensuring adequate resources allocations for the completion of ongoing projects.
“The 2025 budget will ensure prudency, transparency, accountability, and traceability in all local government businesses and zero tolerance to corruption,” Odo said.
The council boss appreciated the councillors for the thorough work they did in passing the budget in record time.
In his remarks, the Igbo-Etiti Legislative Council Leader, Mr Stephen Okwu, commended his colleagues for the speedy attention given to the budget.
Okwu urged the council chairman not to relent in the discharge of his responsibilities, stressing that the councillors remain solidly behind him. (NAN)
