The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised governments at all levels to prioritise the needs of citizens by allocating resources to projects and programmes that directly impact Nigerian welfare.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this statement in Abuja on Sunday, to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) with Nigerians, particularly Muslims.
Ologunagba called on the Federal Government to review its policies, specifically the increase in petroleum product prices, tax hikes, and tariffs, which have consequential effects on Nigerians.
He advised leaders whose decisions inflicted hardship on citizens to use Eid-el-Maulud for introspection.
While celebrating with Nigerians, Ologunagba urged them to strengthen their resolve for national rebirth to overcome economic hardship and insecurity.
He also encouraged Nigerians to seek divine guidance and care for one another during this critical period.
Eid-el Maulud offers humanity, and particularly Nigerian leaders, a rare opportunity to retrace their steps and submit to the Almighty Allah’s will, as exemplified in the Holy Prophet’s life and teachings.
“The PDP charges the Federal Government to end profligacy, curb corruption, and prioritise citizens’ needs by allocating resources to projects and programmes that directly benefit Nigerians.
“Our party urges Nigerians to remain calm, hopeful, and demonstrate love for one another while praying for divine intervention in the nation’s affairs.
“The PDP celebrates Eid-el-Maulud with Nigerians and wishes them happy festivities,” Ologunaga said. (NAN)
