Gov Hope Uzodimma of Imo has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies for prosperity, stability, and progress of the nation’s economic and social transformation.

Uzodimma’s call is contained in his Easter message delivered at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish, Ozuh, Omuma in Orlu East Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

He commended Tinubu for his bold and pragmatic economic policies which, he said, had made more resources available to sub-national governments.

“His government is reform-driven that comes with its initial hardship but at the end of the tunnel, I think we are beginning to see the light.

“We may not have arrived at our desired destination yet, but it is evident to all discerning minds that our country is timely on the path of recovery and sustainable growth,” Uzodimma said.

He also commended Nigerians for their patience and resilience “during this period of national rebuilding”.

He said, “Your understanding and cooperation remain vital for achieving our shared national goals.”

The governor said the changes in the state was “because we were able to key into the policies of the Federal Government in maximising and optimising all opportunities”.

He also said that the state was being repositioned under a shared prosperity agenda, promoting inclusion, opportunity, security, and unity for all indigenes and residents.

He said that his administration had redefined good governance and worked to improve the lives of the people over the past five years.

“Our vision has been clear and consistent to promote the wellbeing of all Imo people through a robust economy and sustained infrastructure development.

“This is why we are working relentlessly to ensure that in the coming months, local governments in Imo will have an uninterrupted power supply,” he said.

Uzodimma described Easter as a “turning point for Christians”, symbolising new beginnings, hope, and victory, secured by Christ’s love and sacrifice.

“By enduring the cross, Christ teaches patience and endurance.

“If we carry our cross faithfully, we too shall share in his glory.

“Above all, Easter teaches us love, for it is out of love that Christ gave his life for our salvation and we are all called to amplify it by loving our neighbours,” he said.

Earlier in a homily, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, Bishop Augustine Ukwuoma, urged leaders in the country to emulate Jesus Christ’s leadership qualities of service.

“We celebrate the suffering of Jesus Christ because out of it, something good came – he forgave us our sins and life came.

“Easter is a combination of a process which Jesus Christ passed through – his suffering, betrayal, crucifixion and rising from the dead,” Ukwuoma said.

The cleric, therefore, urged Christians to emulate the process and preach the good news of integrity, honesty and justice.

He further urged Christians to be optimistic, despite the difficult challenges facing them, admonishing them not to lose hope.

“We must change the way we think; we must think progressively and positively.

“We must leave things like favouritism, corruption, lying in the name of playing politics and insincerity to have a better life,” Ukwuoma said. (NAN)\
