Ondo State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, has charged athletes that would represent the state at the National Youth Games (NYG) to be good ambassadors of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NYG tagged:Delta 2024, will hold from Sept.9 to Sept. 19 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
The state will compete in 14 sports at the games
Yusuf-Ogunleye, while addressing the state contingent on Monday in Akure, assured that their welfare would be prioritised.
“I believe you are well prepared for the event in Asaba. Please go there and exhibit your talent and win medals, remember to be good ambassadors of our state,” he said.
“God will go with you, be with you during your stay and will lead you back home safe with medals.”
Yusuf-Ogunleye ,who commended coaches for giving their best in spite of some challenges, said the state government would reward them adequately.
He said he would be in Asaba on behalf of the governor to motivate them to victory.
The General Manager, Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Sunday Fagite, thanked the sports commissioner for his fatherly role at all times.
Fagite assured that the athletes would deliver at the games.(NAN)
