Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will commence the nationwide distribution of diesel and premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, from 15 August 2025.
In a statement released on Sunday, company spokesperson Mr Anthony Chiejina confirmed that the firm had acquired 4,000 new tankers powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) to support the fuel distribution rollout. He noted that this initiative is part of a wider strategy to streamline logistics, reduce energy costs, and promote sustainability.
The phased distribution scheme will also include over 100 mobile CNG tankers and a network of CNG stations to enhance last-mile delivery to consumers across the country.
“The move demonstrates our commitment to eliminating transportation costs, boosting energy efficiency, and enhancing fuel accessibility for all Nigerians,” Chiejina stated.
Under the new scheme, the refinery will supply products directly to a range of clients including petrol station operators, manufacturers, aviation companies, and telecoms firms—without any additional logistics charges.
Dangote Group also announced a two-week credit arrangement for customers who purchase at least 500,000 litres of diesel or PMS. Eligible buyers may obtain an additional 500,000 litres on credit, backed by a bank guarantee.
Stakeholder registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification will be open from 16 June to 15 August.
Chiejina said the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to improve economic stability and industrial development in Nigeria.
“This is a transformative moment for Nigeria’s energy sector. We’re not only ensuring equitable access to fuel but also helping to stimulate SMEs, lower inflation, and enhance investor confidence,” he added.
The 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery, which commenced operations in 2024, is Africa’s largest single-train facility and is expected to significantly reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported fuel.
