An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, ordered that Adeola Alabi, a 16-year-old, be remanded at Adigbe correctional home, Abeokuta for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrate, E.Kubeinje, ordered that Alabi be kept at the correctional home pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP).
The court, however did not take the plea of the defendant and adjourned the case until Oct. 15, for mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in August at Poopola Street, Ikotun, Lagos.
Iberedem alleged that the defendant sexually assaulted by penetrating the minor through her private part with his manhood.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 137 states that the defendant is liable to life imprisonment if found guilty of the offence of sexual intercourse with a child. (NAN)
