A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan has ordered that Olanrewaju Adetunji, a 22-year-old man, be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre over alleged theft of mobile phone worth N75,000
The magistrate, Mrs O.O. Latunji, ordered Adetunji to be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre after he was unable to perfect the N100,000 bail condition with two reliable sureties, which the court granted to him.
Latunji subsequently adjourned the suit until March 11 for hearing.
Adetunji had pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the defendant commited the crime on Jan. 21, at Bere Area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Akinola added that the defendant was arrested after one Olamilekan Adeleke had reported to the police that Adetunji stole his Infinix Alt20 smart phone valued at N75,000.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 vol. ii, law of Oyo State of Nigeria. (NAN)
