Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF) says, civil servants are the greatest assets of the nation, issues related to their well-being should be promptly and properly addressed.
She stated this during a town hall meeting with members of staff of the office of the HOCSF on Tuesday in Abuja
Walson-Jack who extolled her workers at the forum, said it would be difficult to achieve goals of any organisation, without prioritising staffers’ well being.
She assured that workers’ physical and mental health development and good work environment would be her top priorities as the head of the civil service.
“Of course, if you are not happy, if you don’t have a good work environment, the necessary things to work with, transport to come to the office, it is going to hamper your productivity.
“As the Head of Service, one of my primary objectives is to create a working environment that is not only efficient, but fosters mutual respect, transparency, and accountability,” she said
The HOS assured a fast-track of on-going civil service reforms based on the 6 pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP-25) which emphasised on creativity, innovation among others.
“We want to ensure that the reforms are accelerated and accomplished so that at the end of 2 years, we can look back and say, ‘unbelievable wow’,” she said.
She appealed to participants for collective efforts to make office of the HOCSF a standard for emulation by other sectors, not only within Nigeria and Africa but also across the globe.
Earlier, Mr Raymond Omachi, Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, said the forum created an avenue for participants to air their views on how to build a civil service Nigeria desired.
“We believe your leadership will not only inspire us, but bring meaningful changes that will uplift the welfare of the civil servants, enhance efficiency and set benchmark for good governance,” he said.
Mr Sylvester Abbah, President, Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC) lauded Walson-Jack for fostering cordial relationship with members of staff of her office since her assumption of duty.
Abbah, said the meeting created the opportunity for workers to interact with the Head of service.
He assured the HOS of readiness of the workers to work with her in achieving her set goals. (NAN)
