Edo Queens played out to a goalless draw with FC Masar of Egypt on Wednesday in Casablanca in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2024.
A win for either side could have seen them put one foot into the semi-finals of the competition, having both secured wins in their opening Group B games.
FC Masar was hoping to continue its impressive 1-0 win over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns while Edo Queens who cruised past Central Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) by 3-0 were hoping to build on its dominant performance, but efforts were fruitless.
In spite of the numerous chances created, neither of the debutants could break the deadlock and both sides shared spoils in the end.
The result sees Queens maintain their lead at the top of Group B with four points, with Masar just behind them on the same number of points.
The goalless draw has set up a photo finish in Group B, with Queens having to face a resurgent Sundowns who won 4-0 against CBE earlier.
While Masar face the already knocked out Ethiopian side, who have lost its two opening games.
Both matches will take place on Saturday. (NAN)
