The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud, has reassured Abuja residents that authorities are diligently working to ensure their safety and security following a bomb explosion in the Kuchikuyi community of Bwari area council on Monday.
Mahmoud who made this known during her visit to the site of the explosion,  urged the community to remain vigilant and avoid succumbing to fear.
She stressed the importance of cooperation with security agencies and mutual support among residents.
“We recognise the anxiety that recent events have caused. Please be assured that measures are being taken to safeguard all residents,” she said.
The minister confirmed that investigations are actively ongoing, with increased security measures implemented to prevent any further incidents.
“At this time, it is crucial that we stay alert but not allow fear to take hold. Stay informed through credible sources, work alongside security personnel, and support one another within the community,” she urged.
Mahmoud extended her condolences to those impacted by the explosion and encouraged residents to maintain their daily routines.
She also underscored the importance of community security awareness, advising residents to “know your neighbour,” which can assist in identifying potential threats.
It could be recalled that the FCT Police Command had linked three suspects to the Monday afternoon bomb explosion that rocked a village in the Byazhin area of Kubwa.
The suspects who were killed in the explosion, were said to have visited Kuchikuyi community in Byazhin, from Katsina, to see the owner of Islamic school Tsangagyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School, where the incident took place.
The command also confirmed that the explosion occurred on January 6, 2025, at approximately 11:00 AM, killing 2 men.
