Senator Aishatu Dahiru-Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, has extended her heartfelt condolences to families affected by the recent flood disaster in Yola, Adamawa State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the flooding, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the loss of several lives and widespread destruction of property, including livestock, houses, and farmlands.

In a statement issued in Yola, Senator Binani expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing it as heartbreaking and promising to support efforts aimed at mitigating the impact of future flood events.

“My heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by the devastating floods in Yola. The loss of lives, homes, and the displacement of families is a heartbreaking situation, and I share in the grief of our community during this difficult time,” she said.

The senator, who is also a philanthropist, emphasized her commitment to engaging with communities across the state to assess their vulnerabilities and support the development of lasting solutions to reduce the risk of future disasters.

“We are committed to further connecting with all our communities in the state to assess the vulnerabilities within them and continue to advance solutions that will mitigate such occurrences.”

She called on relevant government agencies and humanitarian organizations to act swiftly in providing relief and support to those displaced by the floods.

“We will continue to advise relevant government agencies and humanitarian organizations to ensure that the displaced are swiftly catered for and assisted to return to their places of abode as soon as possible.”

Senator Binani also raised concerns about the public health risks associated with the floods, including the potential danger of harmful reptiles being released into residential areas due to rising water levels.

She urged residents to remain vigilant and to adhere strictly to warnings and guidance issued by authorities.

“I urge everyone to take necessary precautions and to cooperate with the authorities as they work to manage the situation and prevent further loss of life or property.”

She reaffirmed her personal commitment to helping the Yola community recover and rebuild.

“We will work tirelessly to ensure that our people are safe and that Yola can recover from this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.”
