The Conference of Benue Journalists (CBJ) has called on Benue citizens to support Gov. Hyacinth Alia’s reforms that have impacted the State’s Civil Service.
Mr Ewache Ajefu, Vice President of CBJ, made the call in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
Ajefu said that the reforms had ushered in an era of effective e-governance system that promotes transparency, and accountability.
He urged Alia to sustain the reforms to address challenges hampering economic growth in the State.
“We are aware that the establishment of the Directorates for Diaspora Linkages and Investments are already yielding positive results that are capable of improving lives,” he said.
He enjoined stakeholders in the state to team up with the administration of Alia to tackle corruption and pursue sustainable development.
“Benue people are happy with Alia’s reforms in the civil service that have witnessed merit-based promotions, prompt payment of salaries and arrears.
“The mandatory e-filing system and the establishment of key platforms will no doubt encourage international partnerships and foreign direct investments,” he said.
He lauded Alia for the approval of N75,000 new minimum wage for workers in the state, describing the decision as a step to boost workers morale amid prevailing economic hardship across the country.
He urged the governor to remain unwavering in addressing critical challenges confronting the state, while fulfilling his campaign promises centered on security, human capacity, infrastructural and economic development, (NAN)
