Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation has launched a Mobile Court to tackle water-related offenses across the state.
The Mobile Court, now in full operation, is a strategic component of the state’s ongoing reforms to ensure sustainable water resource management and guarantee access to clean, reliable water for all residents.
The Corporation’s Public Relations and Communication Officer, Comrade Umar Adamu Jibrin, said the Mobile Court is specifically tasked with handling cases such as illegal water connections, water theft, and breaches of existing water regulations.
He said the goal is to streamline legal processes and swiftly address infractions that undermine the state’s water infrastructure.
Our correspondent reports that the court presided over by Your Worship Zainab Shuaibu, will travel across various communities to make justice more accessible, encourage lawful water use, and hold violators accountable.
“This Mobile Court brings the law closer to the people and sends a strong message that abuse of public water resources will no longer be tolerated,” Comrade Jibrin said. “It’s about safeguarding a vital resource for current and future generations.”
The Corporation urginged residents to cooperate with the Mobile Court and abide strictly by water usage regulations. Public compliance, it noted, is not only a legal obligation but a civic duty critical to the state’s development and public health.
“Water is life,” the statement added, “and every citizen has a role to play in protecting and preserving it.”
He appealed to traditional leaders, community groups, and civil society organisations to support the initiative and help educate the public on responsible water use.
