The Nigerian Army has pledged to collaborate with the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute (NKFI), Lokoja, on military innovations and national development.

Brig.-Gen. Oluremi Fadairo, Commander, 12th Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lokoja, made the pledge while on an inspection visit to the institute on Monday in Lokoja.

Fadairo described the facilities’ at the NKFI as exceptional in quality and of world-class standard.

He noted that in an era where technological advancements could shift the balance of power, it was imperative that a culture of creativity and forward-thinking among researchers and students was fostered.

According to him, with the kind of facilities available in the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute, the Nigerian Army can conveniently collaborate with it for military innovation.

”These facilities can be likend to those that can be found at the Tata Institute of Technology in India.

“This visit is aimed at inspecting these facilities and to identify potential areas for collaboration between the Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute and the Nigerian Army headquarters

“We hope that the institution will place greater emphasis on military innovation towards the growth and development of Nigeria.

He encouraged collaborations with leading defense technology firms, while emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in tackling complex military challenges.

“Imagine the potential here if we harness the expertise of engineers, computer scientists, and strategists working together,” he said,

He expressed conviction that if well harnessed; the NKFI would serve as the nation’s breakthrough in technological advancement.

Fadairo, also outlined a vision for the future, where NKFI would not only serve as a training ground for officers but also a hub for groundbreaking military research and development.

“Let us aspire to not only keep pace with global advancements but to lead the way in military innovation,” he added.

Earlier, the Rector of the institute, Mr Williams Charles said the NKFI was modeled to advance skills and inspire youths to technological advancement.

Charles lauded the administration of Gov. Usman Ododo for creating the enabling environment that had made the institute a positive reference point in the state.

The rector, who appreciated the Brigade commander’s visit, described the collaboration with the Brigade as one that would open a new frontier for technological advancement.(NAN)
