Rauf Aregbesola, Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on residents of Osun State to actively participate in the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Osun Governorship Election has been scheduled for August 8, 2026.
Aregbesola made the appeal during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Omoluabi Progressives in Ilesa, in a statement released on Monday by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abosede Oluwaseun.
The former Osun governor emphasized the importance of mobilizing young eligible voters, stating that their participation is key to installing a people-oriented, progressive government.
“The forthcoming CVR, scheduled to commence on August 18, is crucial to the task ahead. We must mobilise our people—especially the youth—to register and be ready to vote,” Aregbesola said.
He encouraged ADC members and supporters to recommit to the group’s goal of restoring progressive leadership in the state and urged them to maintain civility in political engagements.
“We must focus on policy and issue-based discourse that elevates political dialogue and helps us regain the confidence of Osun residents,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the group’s Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, commended members for their dedication since the adoption of the ADC platform for the 2026 poll.
He echoed the call for mass participation in the CVR, stressing that voter registration would be instrumental in achieving the group’s vision for Osun State.
