Prominent Nigerian politicians have called for unity and peace among leaders with different political inclinations in the country.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made the call during the wedding reception of Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo’s daughter on Saturday, held at the International Conference Centre in Gombe, Gombe State.
Abbas urged Nigerian politicians to eschew politics of bitterness, rancour, and promote peace and harmony instead.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining unity despite political differences.
According to him, the event showcased unity and solidarity among Nigerian leaders, transcending party lines.
In his remarks, senate president, Akpabio, commended the coming together of APC and PDP governors and senators at the event, advising that the tempo be sustained beyond wedding events.
He described Dankwambo as a unifier and a detribalised Nigerian, praying for peace in the North East and the country.
The senate president lauded “the tremendous developments in Gombe State” and praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya for consolidating on the works of his predecessors.
In his speech, the state governor Inuwa Yahaya, welcomed guests and congratulated Dankwambo on his daughter’s wedding, wishing all couples in the state who tied the knot that week well.
