The Director-General (D- G), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs Zubaida Umar, has commended members of staff of the agency for their resilience and proactiveness in managing disasters.
Umar gave the commendation on Monday in Jos, when the agency commemorated the customer service week.
The D-G, who was represented by Mr Eugene Nyelong, the agency’s Zonal Coordinator for North Central, said the theme for the 2024 Customer Service Week, titled “Above and Beyond,” was apt and particularly relevant to NEMA.
She described the ability of members of staff of the agency to remain calm, collected, and focused on the needs of those affected in times of disaster as invaluable.
“The empathy, professionalism, and dedication you display when dealing with affected individuals and communities speak volumes about NEMA’s core values of service, integrity, and humanity, which is customer service at its highest level,” she said.
Umar said the complexity of emergency situations required collaboration across different departments and with external partners.
The D-G stated that teamwork remained one of the agency’s strongest assets.
She urged the staff to continuously seek ways to improve service delivery.
Umar urged them to embrace innovation and continuously improve NEMA systems and processes for better service delivery.
The New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mrs Josephine Bagobiri, a staff member of the agency, spoke on the need for improved customer relationships. (NAN)
