Sen Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi-PDP), says Nigeria is poised for transformation in spite of current economic challenges.
Uduaghan, in her 64th Independence Anniversary message issued in Lokoja on Tuesday, said that the nation’s current socio-political landscape, economic challenges were opportunities for its transformation.
The senator, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, admitted that Nigeria faces escalating living costs, looming protests, and a hijacked electoral processes, “which have become catalysts for far-reaching change”.
“The high cost of living has eroded purchasing power, while protesters demand attention from those in power, yet there’s hope for growth and development.
“Clearly, there’s need for accountability, transparency and inclusivity in the search for a new Nigeria built on justice, equality and fairness.
“Although Nigeria stands at a crossroads as if it will continue down the stagnation’s path, when we seize this moment to redefine our future, we shall smile again.
“The choice is clear – we must evolve as a nation,” she said.
The senator said that in spite of the current condition, Nigerians seeking a renewed commitment to democracy and improved living standards should have high hopes. (NAN)
