Gov Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has called for calm among members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over tussle for the National Chairmanship seat of the party.
Mutfwang made the call in a statement by Mr Gyang Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA), issued on Monday in Jos.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the Mutfwang is the only governor elected under the platform of the PDP within the North-Central region of the country.
Mutfwang commended the stakeholders of the party for their steadfastness, commitment and loyalty to the party, particularly those from the north-central region.
He assured them that stakeholders are actively working behind the scenes to resolve all issues surrounding the national chairmanship seat.
”All efforts are geared toward keeping the PDP as a veritable platform to advance and sustain our democracy as the accepted vehicle for good governance in our nation,”Bere quoted Mutfwang
The governor, who lauded the sacrifices and dedication of critical stakeholders, stressed the need for unity within the party.
”It is only through our collective decision and unity of purpose that the PDP can truly meet yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians,”
The governor, however, called on leaders of the party to refrain from making utterances capable of frustrating the peace efforts within the party.(NAN)
