Men of the Edo State Police command have arrested a 28 years old father whose identity is yet to be ascertained over alleged uploading the naked picture of his four years old daughter on social media.
It was gathered that the suspects was arrested at Auchi, the administrative headquarter of Etsako West local government of Edo State.
It was further gathered that the 28 years old father allegedly took the four old daughter to a hotel, removed her clothes, take her naked picture and uploaded it on his Instagram handle @officialsarah_ig, circulating on social media.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident, saying the suspect has been attested.
“It is true, we have made arrest of the suspect, Investigation is ongoing at Auchi police station to unravel the reason why the suspect did that” he said.
Also, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adeboye, confirmed the incident and arrested of the suspect.
Adegboye said, “It is true, we are taking it up, the State Commissioner for Gender is interested in the case, the office of the First Lady is interested in the case too and it is being handled appropriately”.
When asked the name of the suspect, he said they will disclosed it later.
Meanwhile a statement by the force public relations officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, condemned the action of the father.
“The Nigeria Police Force acknowledges the public outcry in response to disturbing images and videos involving a 4-year-old child with the Instagram handle @officialsarah_ig, circulating on social media.
According to him, the content portrays the young child in inappropriate poses, akin to adult contents.
He said prima facie investigations indicate the involvement of the child’s father, who has been apprehended by the Police, adding that every necessary measure is being implemented to ensure that justice is swiftly served.
“As the investigation unfolds, it is imperative to establish proactive measures to guide and counsel parents, preventing the proliferation of such anomalies in our society.
