‘Lisabi: The Uprising’, a Yoruba epic movie directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, has topped the Netflix film chart in Nigeria.
Set in the ancient 18th century Yoruba history, “Lisabi: The Uprising” tells the gripping tale of Lisabi Akala, an Egba warrior who led a successful revolt against the oppressive rule of the Oyo Empire.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the star studded epic movie has been on top of the chart since its release on Sept. 27.
‘Hitman’, an action movie about a generically enchanced assassin caught in a deadly double cross came in at second, while ‘Hitman: Agent 47’ is ranked third on the chart.
‘Bangkok Breaking Heaven and Hell’, an action movie about two strangers who get caught up in a kidnapping scheme gone wrong, is fourth on the chart.
‘Uglies’, a science-fiction movie, as well as ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor among Thieves’, a fantasy movie, are fifth and sixth respectively on the chart.
‘A True Gentleman’, ‘Rebel Ridge’ and ‘Gifted’ occupied the seventh, eighth and ninth positions.
‘Tokunbo’, a drama about an ex-smuggler who faces a perilous task, completes the top 10. (NAN)
